Visit Tampa Bay, the nonprofit organization responsible for promoting tourism to the destination on Florida’s Gulf Coast (USA), announced its new position as a Global Partner of the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA). This strategic partnership reaffirms the destination’s commitment to fostering inclusion and diversity, strengthening its reputation as a welcoming place for travelers from all backgrounds and lifestyles.
Tampa Bay had already been an active member of IGLTA, but this new phase of collaboration marks a significant step toward the destination’s global recognition. The city, known for its welcoming atmosphere and events such as Tampa Pride, offers a wide range of activities and experiences for the LGBTQ+ community, including exploring the historic Ybor City and enjoying a vibrant culinary scene.

According to John Tanzella, President and CEO of IGLTA, the partnership reflects Tampa Bay’s commitment to positioning itself as an example of inclusion in global tourism. “This partnership is a testament to Tampa Bay’s dedication to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all travelers”, said Tanzella.
Santiago C. Corrada, President and CEO of Visit Tampa Bay, also highlighted the significance of the agreement: “Tampa Bay’s greatest treasure – its inclusivity – shines through, solidifying that ‘Everyone Is Welcome’. This partnership underscores our commitment to ensuring that Tampa Bay remains a one-of-a-kind welcoming destination, where people can come as they are and relax with pride”.
Tampa Pride: Celebration and Inclusion
Tampa Pride, held in the historic Ybor City district, is a prominent event that celebrates diversity with parades, live music, community fairs, and cultural activities. In 2024, the event marked its 10th anniversary, drawing over 100,000 participants and solidifying itself as one of the largest in the region. The parade on 7th Avenue is one of the highlights, featuring colorful floats and vibrant performances.
In addition to the parade, initiatives like the Rainbow 5K and the community health fair extend the event’s impact, raising awareness and providing support to the LGBTQ+ community. These activities, combined with the city’s investments in cultural experiences and inclusive marketing, aim to reinforce Tampa Bay as a diverse and welcoming destination, committed to offering unique and enriching experiences for all travelers.
