In an interview with Rede Globo’s Fantástico, the presenter Xuxa talked to the journalist Renata Ceribelli about the release of her newest book “Maya – Baby Rainbow“. During the interview, Ceribelli questioned whether she ever had a crush on another woman.
“No, but if I fell in love, everyone would know, I don’t see it as wrong” – he said Xuxa – “Love is much stronger, love is love. Two men can love each other, one man and one woman, two women. I don’t think we have to put a label on it. Love is love, no matter the sex”.
Throughout the interview, she also comments on the controversial film “Love strange Love“, recorded in 1979 and released in 1982. The film was directed by Walter Hugo Khouri and featured other renowned names such as Vera Fisher, Tarcísio Meira and Mauro Mendonça.
“In the film, I played the role of a 15-year-old girl who was sold to a brothel where there was a 12-year-old boy. It is not my biography, not even close to my story” – he said Xuxa, who for more than thirty years acquired the rights to the feature film and prevented its broadcasting everywhere.
However, she ended up changing her mind in 2018 and currently the film is released to be shown, and today she wants people to watch it.
“Whoever has not seen the film, please see it, because this film speaks of something very current, which is child exploitation, that is the reality of many people” – said.
Regarding the controversy of having sex with the boy, she is also emphatic: “People raise the banner of ‘oh, you had sex with a 12-year-old boy’. I didn’t have sex, that’s fiction. If not, Arnold Schwarzenegger should be in jail, because he killed a lot of people in the movies”– said.
