The candidate for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes<\/strong>, was elected this Sunday with 64.07% of the valid votes against 35.93% of Marcelo Crivella. In his speech after the official result, Paes harshly criticized the Crivella government and said that his will have different attitudes.<\/p>\n

“The great role of the Carioca today is to celebrate that a prejudiced government, omitted in recent years, will end. For those who voted for me, for those who did not vote for me, for all creeds, for all orientations, for all religions , Rio is the place of diversity. This is how we want to govern “<\/em> – she said.<\/p>\n

“Today you are free to reconfirm this city as the city of diversity. It is a city so wide, that it accepts everyone, that it embraces everyone”<\/em> – he continued.<\/p>\n

In the last debate before the elections, Crivella<\/strong> said pejoratively that Eduardo Paes wanted to make Rio de Janeiro the “gay tourism world capital<\/a>“.<\/p>\n

Throughout the debate, the current mayor recalled Paes’s connection with Cabral – on one occasion, he even called him “Eduardo Cabral “<\/strong>, and Paes reacted by calling his opponent” Crivella Witzel “, mention of the outgoing governor of the State of Rio, Wilson Witzel (PSC), who defeated Paes in the 2018 election.<\/p>\n

Before that, on November 19, he called the governor of S\u00e3o Paulo, Jo\u00e3o Doria<\/strong>, “fag”<\/em> and then apologized.<\/p>\n
