Nun H\u00e9rika Chaves<\/strong> (24) recently visited the Boleia bar, aimed at lesbians, during a visit to Rio de Janeiro and says that she always defended the civil union of gays, even before Pope Francis’ declaration. The information came from Universa<\/a>.<\/p>\n

H\u00e9rika’s brother is gay<\/strong> and she always knew, but she realized that he was experiencing his sexuality fully when he noticed comments on Facebook from several men talking about how handsome he was. As he still lives with his mother, H\u00e9rika decided to talk to her, who commented that he always denied being gay.<\/p>\n

“Mom, he is gay and must be ashamed because I am a nun”<\/em> – said H\u00e9rika<\/strong>– “Tell him that I love him most of all, he is my brother, and support him”<\/em> – he continued, also adding that eventually he “came out of” from the closet “.<\/p>\n

Since she was a child she always lived with gays, lesbians and trans people, but seeing what her brother was going through helped her to raise more awareness of the cause, since he suffered several homophobic curses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“They called my brother a fag, a little gay, a bug, and that bothered me. I thought about how much pain so many people felt”<\/em> – she says.<\/p>\n

H\u00e9rika<\/strong> also makes a point of emphasizing in the interview that the “Love of God does not secrete and is much greater than any prejudice”, always resorting to the verse “Love your neighbor as yourself” and that many leave the Church due to the resistance of more conservative.<\/p>\n

“I resort to the word of God and the passage ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’. When everyone wanted to stone the prostitute, Jesus held hands, when they expelled the leper, Jesus brought them back.
