The European Union<\/strong> is, as of March 11, “an area of freedom for LGBTQI people”. This statement came from the European Parliament itself in a resolution that strongly responds to the so-called “free zones of LGBTQI ideology” in Poland. The text had 492 votes in favor, 141 against and 46 abstentions. The information is from O GLOBO<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“This resolution is an impact message for the governments of the European Union: we will no longer tolerate its dangerous and deadly rhetoric that prevents millions of citizens from living freely. It is a promise of freedom that we make to all LGBTQI people in Europe: Parliament will support freedom “<\/em> defended the European deputy and author of the text, the French Pierre Karleskind<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The European Commission<\/strong> has already refused to grant financial support to municipalities that are against LGBTQIA+. Even so, the European Parliament’s text goes beyond these issues, and calls for the implementation of the tools available to protect the rights of the community, including Article 7 of the Treaty on European Union, which allows sanctions for countries that violate basic European rights, and the regulation that was recently approved to protect the Community budget from fraud and violations of the rule of law.<\/p>\n

The text also refers to the setback of rights that occurred in Hungary<\/strong>, when the city of Nagyk\u00e1ta approved a measure that prohibits the “dissemination and promotion of LGBTQI propaganda”<\/em>, at the same time that the Hungarian Parliament approved a constitutional amendment that prevents same-sex couples from adopting children and denies the existence of trans or non-binary people by defining definitive sex as that of birth.<\/p>\n

Most of the European Parliament<\/strong>‘s party groups supported the proposal, with the exception of the representatives of Identity and Democracy (ID) – where are the National Meeting of Marine Le Pen, the League of Matteo Salvini and the Alternative for Germany (AfD) – and the European Conservatives and Reformists, where are the Polish governing party Law and Justice (PiS) and the Spanish Vox.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
