Cura\u00e7ao<\/strong>, at the Southern Caribbean<\/strong>, returns to the official schedule of in-person events on the island and performs the Pride 2021<\/strong><\/a> in between 09\/30<\/strong> and 10\/03<\/strong>. The schedule starts with the “Punda Vibes Pride”<\/strong>, at 5:30 pm, where various activities will take place in the historic streets. Later, it follows with the “Rainbow Lounge”<\/strong> (10\/01) and the White Party<\/strong> (10\/02), both in the Landhuis Bona Vista<\/strong>, official mansion of the event. Completing the agenda, on Sunday (10\/03), a brunch will be held at the restaurant Kome<\/strong> and a nautical parade through Willemstad Bay.<\/p>\n

Gay Marriage<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A recent theme stirred up the local press and should be celebrated during the Pride Cura\u00e7ao 2021<\/strong>, it’s the same-sex marriage<\/a>. On September 13, 2021, the judge of the Court of First Instance in Willemstad ruled that the current provision, as provided for in the Cura\u00e7ao constitution, that marriage can only be entered into between a man and a woman is contrary to the principle of equality and the prohibition of discrimination. The decision was made in an open case presented by the organization Human Rights Caribbean<\/em> on behalf of two women who wish to marry.<\/p>\n

The prohibition on same-sex marriage has been a topic of discussion on the island for some time. In the recent decision of the Court of First Instance, legal regulations and developments with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the region and the world regarding the subject were discussed. According to the judge, the current impediment is not only unconstitutional, but also goes against the spirit friendly <\/em>of the Caribbean island. The sentence is, therefore, a step towards the emancipation of LGBTQIA+ people and an asset for the entire community and minority living in Cura\u00e7ao.<\/p>\n
