Representativeness is the word that best expresses the work of photographer and journalist \u00c9berson Theodoro<\/a> (35), creator of the website Foto de Homem<\/a><\/strong>, specialized in male nudity. The diversity is given by images of men with common to \u201cstandardized\u201d bodies, where all ethnicities and sexual orientations are present, thus revealing the versatility of the professional from Santa Catarina, who was inspired in the profession by the American photographer Bruce Weber (1946) and, in his graduate thesis in Photography, he researched the work of another well-known nude photographer, from Rio de Janeiro Alair Gomes <\/a>[1921-1992].<\/p>\n

Weekly Unpublished Photo Shoot<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The collection of photos grows every week: on Thursdays, at 7 pm, a new shoot enters the site. Theodoro claims that there is an intense production pace to produce an unprecedented photoshoot each week, a process that began in May 2020.<\/p>\n

\u201cI need to have a very big planning: keep in touch with the public through Instagram, look for new models, research locations, schedule trips, see tickets, budget for accommodation. I do everything myself, but the love of work reduces the physical and mental fatigue that it sometimes causes me\u201d<\/em>, admits the photographer who has already performed sessions in Rio de Janeiro, S\u00e3o Paulo and in other parts of the country.<\/p>\n

With more than 120 frontal nude essays, the images fall into several categories, from sensual to erotic (including videos), revealing not only a range of bodies, but also of relationships, in which he has already shown an essay composed of a triple and a quadruple.<\/p>\n

I always look to discourses of empowering bodies that are not just those seen on the catwalks, in fashion catalogs and, above all, on social networks, \u00c9berson reports the difficulty of scaling models that are outside this prevailing concept of beauty. \u201cIt’s a vicious circle: I invite a model who I’m sure will make a nice shoot, but then he says he doesn’t feel comfortable posing nude because he thinks he’s overweight. Then other big people, because they don’t feel represented, can have a decrease in self-esteem and also avoid exposing their own bodies, especially with total nudity\u201d<\/em>, he analyzes.<\/p>\n

Projects for 2022: PWD testing<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u00c9berson Theodoro confesses that he dreams of having a nude test with PWD (person with disability). He remembers that months ago he saw a person in a wheelchair on the street in Joinville and did not think twice about asking him to pose. \u201cI took courage and approached him very carefully, because it’s not every day that you’re out on the street and someone invites you to pose nude. I explained my work, left my card, asked him to think carefully about the proposal. Days later he returned, thanks and declined. I was frustrated, but I had to respect his decision\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

In addition, the photographer hopes to be able to photograph more black men on the website, as well as trans men. “Masculinity is very comprehensive and it can express itself in many ways, even coming from someone who doesn’t have a penis.”<\/em><\/p>\n

For Theodoro, nudity in front of the lens means a dialogue with the other’s desire. \u201cThe desire to be and be seen without clothes, and also the desire of those who follow my work. Thinking about how many sexual triggers I arouse through my photos is an endless universe. In such a sad time we live in, I hope to help people have moments of pleasure when they are in front of my photos and videos.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
