The Civil Police<\/span> chief<\/b> from<\/span>Feij\u00f3 (AC)<\/b>,<\/span>Railson Ferreira<\/b>, He was a victim of homophobia last Wednesday (29) during an operation investigating individuals involved in drug trafficking. During the incident, one of the detainees’ sisters-in-law called the detective a “sleazy gay” and even told him that he “should become a man”. The woman was arrested on the spot and taken to a custody hearing on Thursday (30). <\/span><\/p>\n

The police chief’s team <\/span>were executing court orders against individuals involved in a case related to a 25kg marijuana seizure, which was confiscated in January of this year at the <\/span>International Bus Terminal in Rio Branco<\/b>. <\/span>During the operation, two men, aged 20 and 25, were arrested. <\/span>“<\/span>We were received by the young man’s sister-in-law with profanities; the family is quite problematic”<\/span><\/i>, Railson recalled in an interview with G1<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

While still at the house of one of the detained men, the police chief issued an arrest warrant for the drug trafficking suspect’s wife for contempt of authority. Angry with the situation, the man’s sister-in-law once again verbally abused the police officers and urinated in the yard of the house in front of the teams.<\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span>I told her she was under arrest, but I didn’t handcuff her; I don’t like to handcuff women. They continued to use profanity, we recorded everything. When it was time to leave, I told the suspect’s sister that she was under arrest and asked her to change her clothes. I decided not to take his sister-in-law into custody so that she could stay with the children. The plan was to only take his wife, charge her with contempt of authority, and then release her.<\/span><\/i>“, Ferreira recounted.<\/span><\/p>\n

To G1<\/em>, the police chief stated that he was overlooking all the insults made by the detainee’s sister-in-law but could not tolerate the crime of homophobia. “I told them to lock the door and leave them outside. She said, ‘You should become a man, you sleazy gay’. Since racial insult is a non-bailable offense, just like racism, I did not set bail. I sent her for a custody hearing, and the court kept her in detention.<\/em>“, he said.<\/p>\n

Ferreira has been a Civil Police Chief for a year and seven months, but his total time in the force adds up to over eight years. Married to accountant William Barbosa Bezerra<\/strong> for 10 years, he mentioned that he has never experienced homophobia in his workplace and expressed his regret for the occurrence of such a crime during LGBTQIA+ Pride Month<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n
