With the theme ‘There is a black future and it cannot be built alone’, the 2021 edition of the Black Fair Festival is being held in partnership with Facebook. With national and international attractions, including concerts, workshops, shows, artistic interventions and panels, the event takes place until December 10 and also features thousands of products from entrepreneurs across the country that will be for sale in the marketplaces of partners and the Black Fair.

This Wednesday, December 1st, the Festival’s program features two live – and free – events in partnership with the British Council: the first, at 7 pm, show with the black feminist punk band Big Joanie (United Kingdom); at 9 pm, rapper, singer, songwriter, actress and indigenous and LGBTQIA+ activist Katú Mirim talks with UK cultural producer Chardine Taylor Stone about the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights and its impact on music, mediated by Jaqueline Fernandes, creator of Festival Latinidades – the largest festival of black women in Latin America and President of Instituto Afrolatinas.

About the Black Fair

The event, created in 2002 by Adriana Barbosa as a fair of products for black entrepreneurs, is today the largest cultural and entrepreneurship fair in Latin America, bringing content, products and services that represent what is most inventive, innovative and creative in different segments. It is the biggest living mirror of Afro-contemporary trends in the market and the arts in Latin America, in addition to being the ideal space to value Afro-entrepreneur initiatives from different segments, with access from technology to literature, music to digital arts, always presenting what is most urgent and futuristic in the reflections of black existence.

The Black Fair 2021 is a realization of PretaHub and co-realized with Facebook. It also has partnerships with Assaí Atacadista, iFood, Mercado Livre, Instituto C&A, Converse, British Council, US Consulate, Via, through Fundação Casas Bahia and Instituto Moreira Salles, CEERT, GIFE and MOVER. And as allied networks in the execution, we have Oxalá Produções, MOVA, Terra Preta Produções, Casa Natura Musical, Ayo Produções, Oliver Press and Gentilização, among allied partners.
