Israel Ministry of Tourism confirms LGBT+ Parade in Tel Aviv and expects to receive Brazilians

In 2021, the city of Tel Aviv, on the Israeli coast of the Mediterranean Sea, managed to return the in person version of the traditional LGBTQIA+ Pride Parade after the country advanced with high vaccination rates, receiving more than one hundred thousand tourists from around the world.

For this year, the Israel Ministry of Tourism, which has an office in Brazil, confirms the event for Friday, June 10, and announces that it expects to receive a greater amount of Brazilian tourists.

Under the theme “Back to Pride” the Pride will begin on Rokach Boulevard near Sportek and continue to Ganei Yehoshua Park, where the main stage will be set up to host a variety of attractions and shows.

“The Tel Aviv-Yafo Pride events are a long-standing tradition, centered on a message of equality and acceptance. Tel Aviv-Yafo represents a welcoming home for all communities residing here and is proud to be an innovative city in its approach to the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as serving as a source of inspiration for the whole world. This year, more than ever, we will celebrate together, march together and fight together for equality”, says Ron Huldai, mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo.

PROGRAMMING

The official Pride celebrations in Israel begin on May 20 with Dragovision, a “dragged” version of the Eurovision music festival. Throughout the month, a series of events will be held in support of the community, along with informative conversations with LGBTQIA+ youth who enlist in the army. There is also a picnic, women-only raves, a gay ballad for the elderly, the presence of drag queens like Bianca Del Rio and Chelseaboy and a greater schedule in the city’s clubs and bars.

Israel withdraws obligation to PCR test from May 20

Through its office in Brazil, the Israeli government has confirmed that, from midnight between 20 and 21 May, PCR tests will no longer be necessary upon arrival in Israel, nor will isolation for 24 hours. Also, as of May 21, tourists and Israeli citizens entering Israel will not have to take the test.

Although the use of the mask has been suspended in Israel, it should be noted that the use of masks on international flights remains necessary. In addition, the requirement to complete an online entry declaration before arriving in Israel by air or sea will remain in force.

PROTOCOLS

RESUMING

In April 2022, 207,400 tourists were registered (compared to 30,200 in April 2021 and 405,000 in April 2019). The number points, according to the Brazilian office, to the efforts to recover tourism receptive to Israel, with a significant increase compared to April 2021 and a decrease of about 49% (only) compared to April 2019. The pace of tourist entrances to date represents the basis for a forecast valuation of 1.5 to 2 million tourist entrances in 2022.
