Actor Willie Garson, who played the gay character Stanford Blatch in Sex and the City, gave an interview to the vehicle Page Six (via UOL) saying he went years without being straight because he thought it could be “offensive”.
“I didn’t like it when actors who played gay characters made a point of saying that they were heterosexual. That implies that there would be something wrong if they were gay too. When some reporter asked me, I said, ‘When I did the’ White Collar ‘series, nobody asked me if I was a real cheater. When I did ‘NYPD Blue’, nobody asked me if I really was a murderer ‘”, said Willie Garson.
Despite this, he comments that the fact of not exposing that he was straight hindered his love life, as many women thought he was gay in real life and that he approached only to be “the best gay friend”, playing the same role in series. On the other hand, he managed to have a long-term relationship and is also the father of a boy named Naten, adopted in 2009, who is now 19 years old.
“I always wanted a son. I had a long relationship, we broke up and resumed all the time for the last 20 years, and she never wanted to be a mother. No problem with that, but I had a kind of midlife crisis and I really wanted to a son. So I adopted. I am a very ‘partner’ father, he and I are great friends”, completes the actor.
William Garson Paszamant is also known for playing Mozzie in the White Collar series from 2009 to 2014. Born in Highland Park, New Jersey, Garson is a Jew and graduated from the Wesleyan University College of Fine Arts and later graduated from the same course at the Yale Drama School.
Starting his career in 1986, he has acted in more than 75 films and appeared in more than 300 episodes of the most diverse TV series. He recently participated in the Hawaii Five-0 series as Gerard Hirsch.
