Australian firefighters’ 2021 calendar has photos and videos released

The 2021 edition of the Australian Firefighters Calendar will allocate the proceeds from sales to NGOs targeting animals affected by major fires in Australia between 2019 and 2020. To purchase one of them, simply access the official project page.

“The Australian firefighter calendar for 2021 is back! The coronavirus would never stop us from bringing smiles to faces around the world.” – says the official release – “You will see all of your favorite Australian firefighters with all the varieties of animals we could photograph, from koalas and kangaroos to rescue kittens and rottweiler puppies. We have something for everyone!”

The money raised for the 2021 edition will go to various organizations that treat animals that have been hit by forest fires in Australia, whether it is recovering them from their injuries or giving them a new home.

“Nobody was apathetic to see our precious wildlife trying to escape forest fires” – says the director of the initiative, David Rogers – “and the loss of wildlife is beyond our comprehension. Everyone involved in the Australian Firefighters Calendar has decided that all of our efforts need to be focused on Australian wildlife”– he adds.

Australian firefighters’ calendars have been around since 1993 and have so far raised around 3.2 million Australian dollars, equivalent to R$ 13 million, considering the current quote.

Funds from the 2020 edition helped to buy equipment and supplies for volunteers working at the Currimbin Wildlife veterinary hospital, which mainly serves animals such as koalas, kangaroos, birds and wombats (a species of marsupial).

Each of the calendars costs, on average, 20 Australian dollars (R$ 80.00 at the current price). In addition to these, pillowcases of thematic pillows, welcome cards, among others, are also sold. There are also editions with photos of the animals only, without the firefighters.
