Actor Ronen Rubinstein (27), most famous for playing the gay police officer TK Strand in the series “9-1-1: Lone Star”, granted an interview to Variety and revealed to be bisexual.

“I fully identify myself as bisexual” – said the actor – “I literally get goosebumps when I say this. And I feel really good, I feel good about finally being free to say that”.

Rubinstein also said that he was concerned about the repercussions of his romantic scenes with actor Rafael L. Silva (played by Carlos Reyes), alerting friends and family about the episodes with “hotter” scenes between them.

“Carlos and I had a huge scene of making out, we pushed ourselves through the walls taking off our clothes”, he remembers Rubinstein on one of those scenes. “It was very hot and the episode started like that. And it didn’t stop. We crashed into the walls and ended up on the couch. I warned my parents and friends for months.”

“I said, ‘Look, I understand if you don’t want to see it, it may be that you say something really ignorant, stupid or just don’t want to see it, I understand that too'”, said the actor.

At the time he was filming the scenes he did not want to expose his sexual orientation, but it was thanks to the series that he began to accept himself and understand that he was attracted to men and women.

“The big question for me is that where I came from, people like me, people who identify themselves as bisexual or gay, are not welcome. And that’s the most brutal truth. Either you accept a lot of curses anywhere you go or else they kick your ass because you’re gay “.

“So, definitely, I was always afraid to accept my feelings. I was more aware of them in high school. I was aware of my feelings and my interest in men, but I couldn’t talk to anyone about it. The fans, especially the ‘Tarlos’ fans, are one of the main reasons why I finally feel safe and comfortable to talk about it, accept it and feel happy “.

Currently, Ronen Rubinstein is dating also actress Jessica Parker Kennedy, and, according to her, she was the one who encouraged him to “come out of the closet”.

“In fact, she was one of the first people who respectfully drew my attention to this”, said Rubinstein. “She asked me, ‘Is there anything we need to talk about?’ And I said, ‘maybe’. I didn’t know how this conversation was going to end, but it was probably the best conversation possible. ”

“She definitely encouraged me to talk about it and live my truth. She said to me, ‘I love you for who you are, you whole and people are going to love you for who you are and for you all’. She jokes from time to time, ‘just don’t change me for Harry Styles’ ”.
