The Brazilian Association of Lesbians, Gay, Bisexuals, Transvestites, Transsexuals and Intersex (ABGLT) came out in defense of the Unified Health System (SUS) on Thursday (28), after news that the government intends to open paths for the privatization of units basic health.

”We will not accept SUS Privatization! All LGBTI+ defend SUS as a public, free and quality service for ALL “, said the association on his Instagram account.

The organization highlighted the role of SUS in the comprehensive health policy of the LGBTI+ population and in the sex reassignment process, which includes the use of hormones and surgery.

“It is in SUS that we have the comprehensive health policy of the LGBTI+ population and the transsexualizing process with hormones and surgeries. We want more investments so that all this reaches more people and not privatization than we have already achieved’‘.

The association’s position was motivated by the publication of a federal government decree, last Tuesday, which included basic health units within the scope of the Investment Partnership Program (PPI), according to Folha de S. Paulo.
