Actors Jonathan Bennett (known for being Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls) and TV presenter Jaymes Vaughan became the first gay couple to make the cover of traditional wedding magazine “The Knot”. Information is from the Queerty channel.
The two posted the cover photo on their respective social media, and Bennett wrote “That’s what representation and history should be.”
“When The Knot asked us to be the first LGBTQ+ couple on the cover, we were filled with so many emotions, but they can be summed up in joy” – said Bennet – “Thanks to everyone at The Knot not only for helping us tell our story. history, but for telling the story of our community”
“We’ve lived ‘in the closet’ for decades and now we’re on the cover of the world’s biggest wedding magazine screaming [para o mundo] and proud of my fiancé for something I never would have imagined. I can only think about how much younger he makes me feel, in small town Ohio, standing in front of his mother in a small store watching two men loving each other on the cover of a wedding magazine. Representativeness matters,” – he continued.
Vaughan also gave his opinion on Instagram: “I’m incredibly honored to share this moment with the man I love. The first gay couple on The Knot cover! Moments like this are much bigger than us. I wonder when I was sixteen, depressed and scared, I would have felt if I had seen two men in a relationship on the cover of one of the biggest wedding magazines in the world. That’s the hope we need. And because of that, it’s the hope I know someone will have.”
Jonathan Bennett says in the magazine that he met Vaughan when he was filming for Celebrity Page to promote a reality show called “Halloween Wars.” Bennett’s goal was to interview him, but he was so attracted that the interview “was a disaster”, but in front of the cameras you could see that they both had a crush “at first sight”.
