An American boy wrote a heartbreaking letter to Santa Claus about being gay, says Advocate magazine. Written by Will, in a child’s handwriting, it was posted on a website run by the US post office, which collects letters written to Santa Claus.
“Dear Santa Claus, you support the LGBTQ community and if you can talk to God, you can tell him that I love him, and if he loves me by being gay [?]”, Will asked.
“Thank you”, he concluded. “Love, Will.”
Most of the letters shared in Operation Santa Claus ask for toys; several include illustrations. Will’s letter, an unusual request that addresses the LGBTQ+ identity of such a young man, was seen by Nancy Cruz-Garcia, who was moved to share the letter on Twitter.

“This letter to Santa Claus broke my heart”, she captioned the tweet.
Others responded by expressing concern for Will. Others assured him that, of course, Will, you are loved. And there are countless organizations that support LGBTQ+ children of all ages and their parents.
While it may be unusual for a child who is young enough to believe in Santa Claus to identify himself as gay, LGBTQ+ people “are born that way”, as Lady Gaga’s song attests. In addition, research has shown that all children are gender-fluid, with a “princess phase” being a perfectly normal rite of passage for boys.
