Donald Trump’s youngest daughter, Tiffany, spoke at an event in support of the LGBT community, the “Trump Pride”, in Tampa, Florida. She said her father “always supported” members of the community and that her best friends are gay.
His speech was not well received by members of the community, or even by the US media, and has garnered numerous criticisms.
Trump is considered one of the politicians who is most opposed to LGBTQIA+ rights, including being against the “Equality Act”, which ensured federal protections for LGBT people. He also repealed a protective measure for transgender students in public schools applied by Barack Obama and banned transgender people from serving in the armed forces.
However, Tiffany argued that her father chose gay diplomat Richard Grenell to take over the board of US secret service agencies. Grenell was the first homosexual named by an incumbent president for a similar post in his office.
“My father doesn’t look at someone based on who he loves. There must be love for everyone”, said the president’s daughter.
The Gay & Lesbican Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), an association that protects the rights of LGBTQIA+ in the U.S., took a stand against Tiffany’s speech and posted several anti-LGBT actions on her father on Twitter.
In addition, a survey by GLAAD shows that 76% of community members are more sympathetic to Democrat Joe Biden.

“Yes, we saw Tiffany Trump’s video about ‘pride’ “, says the official Twitter caption of GLAAD.
Upon arriving at the event, the music in the background that was playing was “I Got a Feeling”, by Black Eyed Peas, and one of the group’s trainers, Will.I.Am, took a stand against choosing the song.
.@TiffanyATrump, I see that you walked out to #iGOTTAFEELING…but given the inequalities in America affecting LGBTQ, people of color and the disenfranchised, this song would have been more appropriate to walk out to… https://t.co/Rcb36Wg2G9 #THELOVE pic.twitter.com/FzdwJrd4Zb

“Tiffany Trump, I saw that you used #iGOTTAFEELING … when you arrived but due to inequalities in America affecting LGBTQ, black people and also disenfranchised, this song would be more appropriate when you left”.
