In the 9th edition of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy comic book, released this December, it was revealed that the character Peter Quill, also known as Star Lord, is bisexual.
In the story, signed by screenwriter Al Ewing and designed by artist Juan Cabal, Quill goes to a planet within an alternative reality and ends up getting involved with the couple Aradia and Mors. After being reluctant to live in a polyamorous relationship, he ends up deciding that he will never leave the place and lets himself fall in love with both.
There is still no official position that Peter Quill’s bisexuality will be represented in theaters. In audiovisual productions, the character is played by Chris Pratt, often involved in controversies with the LGBT community, especially for attending a clearly LGBTphobic church.
Chris Pratt did not take a stand against Trump and attends anti-LGBT church
The actor Chris Pratt, known for playing Peter Quill in “Guardians of the Galaxy” and Owen Grady in “Jurassic World”, was “canceled” on the Internet after being accused of supporting the President Donald Trump and remembering him for being in favor of a Christian church contrary to LGBTQIA+ rights. The prosecution before the latter was made by Eliot Page in 2019 and, at the time, Ruffalo denied that this was true.
The controversy started when television producer Amy Berg made a post on Twitter with photos of four “Chris” from the cinema: Hemswroth, Evans, Pine and Pratt and said in a relaxed tone “One of them has to go”. What started as a joke ended up going viral and resulting in Pratt being cancelled, not only for his connection to the religious doctrine, but also for remaining silent on the upcoming elections in the United States.
Downey Jr came in his friend’s defense and recalled that Pratt is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, granddaughter of the former American President John Kennedy, and daughter of Arnold, who stands against Trump:
“What a world… The ‘sinless’ are throwing stones at my brother, Chris Pratt… A true Christian who lives by principle, has never shown anything but positivity and gratitude (…) If you have problems with Chris … I have a new idea.Delete your social media accounts, sit down with your own character defects, work on them and then celebrate your humanity ” – said the Iron Man interpreter on Twitter.
Mark also sided with Chris on Twitter, by stating the following: “You all, Chris Pratt is the most solid man there is .I know him personally and, instead of slandering him, see how he lives his life. He just doesn’t talk openly about politics as a rule. This is a distraction. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize, friends. We are so close now”
Pratt did not attend the event in support of Joe Biden, who is running for president of the United States with Donald Trump. Almost all actors from Marvel movies attended the event.
