Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys duet on their new song “Matches” and the verdict is unanimous: it’s a hit, says the PinkNews website.
Britney exchanges verses with the boyband on the track, which depending on her interpretation is about a very hot love affair or a murder by arson.
It comes as part of a deluxe reissue of Britney’s 2016 album, Glory. There was some debate about whether Britney was on board with the relaunch, given her recent court statement that she had no desire to continue her career as long as her father remained in control of her business.
However, Britney said she was “so excited” about “Matches” on her Instagram, adding, “The love you showed this album this year was stupidly incredible 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹…. as if I couldn’t believe it !!! I hope this brings you joy. GOD BLESS YOU ALL 💋💋💋 !!!!! “
More than one person pointed out Britney’s chance to release a song called “Matches” just a few months after she set fire to her home gym.

Britney Spears has, in recent months, struggled to remove her father Jamie Spears from the tutelage that controls his career, finances and elements of his personal life.
On November 10, her lawyer Samuel D Ingham III told a Los Angeles court that she “is afraid” of her father and “will not appear again if her father is in charge of her career”.
Judge Brenda Penny refused to suspend Jamie Spears from her role. However, she agreed to appoint the corporate trust company Bessemer Trust to act as a co-conservative alongside him and said she would consider future requests for removal of Jamie.
Following the decision, Britney hinted that she would continue her fight, sharing a photo of children jumping a skipping rope to Instagram with the caption: “Keep JUMPING towards your dreams”.
