Marvel has announced that, to celebrate Captain America‘s 80th birthday, it will present new versions of the hero, the first of which is the character Aaron Fischer, who is gay. The information is from O Globo.
The character was conceived by screenwriter Joshua Trujillo and the drawing was responsible for the trans artist Jan Bazaldua. On Monday, Trujillo celebrated the announcement of the new Captain America on Twitter.
I can't wait for you to meet Aaron Fischer! Working with @obazaldua has been a dream, and I'm beyond honored to introduce him into the Marvel Universe.

“I can’t wait for you to meet Aaron Fischer! Working with Jan Bazaldua has been a dream, and I am very honored to introduce you to the Marvel Universe. THE UNITED STATES OF CAPTAIN AMERICA will be out in June!” , he wrote.
Trujillo also said in a statement that Aaron is “inspired by queer community heroes: activists, leaders and ordinary people who fight for a better life. He represents the oppressed and the forgotten. I hope his debut story resonates with readers and helps inspire the next generation of heroes.”
Bazaldua says he is happy to be able to present an openly gay character as Captain America.
The series, entitled “The United States of Captain America”, shows Aaron as a young man who protects the homeless and identifies himself as “Captain America of the Railroads”. The story will show other characters who have already worn the Captain’s cloak joining on a quest in search of the hero’s shield, which is missing.
It is worth mentioning that on the side of DC Comics, there will be the celebration of Pride Month with a special 80 page HQ dedicated to LGBTQIA+ characters. Confirmed characters include Batwoman, Renee Montoya, Alan Scott, Midnighter, Apollo, Extraño, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and Constantine.
